Team USA wins Gold with the Help of Two Local Elmira Martial Artists

Congratulations to the US Sport Jujitsu Team on their 9-0 victory over Team Canada at the inaugural World Sport Jujitsu League fights on October 21. American Family Karate & Jujitsu (AFKJ) is excited to have two of their black belt instructors, Sensei Teagan Brown and Sensei Kyle Northup, represent the United States of America as members of the United States Sport Jujitsu Team.

Sensei Teagan Brown and Sensei Kyle Northup, both 2nd degree black belts, have been traveling to multiple states, training and competing as part of the selection process for the US team. Training camps were held monthly in North Carolina. Teagan and Kyle have been training at American Family Karate & Jujitsu for over 10 years and have been instructors for 3 years.

The 2023 CAN-AM International tournament hosted by the World Sport Jujitsu League (WSJL) was a great success. Team USA took the gold against Team Canada winning all 9 matches. There was a lot of great fighting and skills demonstrated by both teams. The level of competition and degree of sportsmanship was an inspiration.

In conjunction with the WSJL International Tournament, the American Sport Jujitsu League hosted the year end Nationals Championship Tournament. Team AFKJ took 31 students to compete and returned with 60 medals. Sensei Teagan and Sensei Kyle won tournament Grand Champion in Sport Jujitsu.

Congratulations to the WSJL’s USA Team on winning the CAN-AM Team fights, and a special Congratulations to Sensei Teagan Brown and Sensei Kyle Northup on winning the ASJL Combat Sport Jujitsu National Grand Champion titles.

The next 2025 WSJL International Tournament will be held in Ecuador. The 2024 martial arts tournament season for the ASJL will start in April.
